My Fit Foods Lean Lemon Turkey - My Version

Drumroll please....after many hours in the kitchen (and at my local MFF), I have come up with a pretty darn awesome home version of everyone's fave Lean Lemon Turkey. You can serve over rice like MFF does, stuff it in a whole wheat pita or eat it plain...it's up to you!

1 1/4 lbs. ground turkey
1 1/2 tsp Tony Chachere "More Spice" Creole Seasoning
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 small whole dried red chili pod, seeded and crumbled
pinch crushed red pepper flakes
generous pinch cayenne pepper
4 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
zest from half of a lemon

In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground tukey. Break meat up with back of wooden spoon. Add creole seasoning, garlic powder, crumbled pepper, pepper flakes, cayenne, lemon juice and zest. Stir to combine and continue cooking until turkey is browned 8-10 minutes.

  2. I'm going to try it tonight...been craving this. It's the only thing I've tried from MFF...and it's awesome. I was hoping I could find a recipe online. Question though...what about the asparagus? I had never eaten asparagus before this meal and I have no clue how to prepare it...but i like it.

  3. OK, didn't get to make it last night...but made it tonight. WOW! Good job. That was greatness. Not sure what I did, but it was a lot spicier than MFF version, but that's fine with me. I'm stuffed. Thanks.

  4. @simsgym - So glad you liked it!!! to answer the aspargus question...steam it until tender. I skip it in this recipe because my kiddos only like aspargus roasted.

  7. Finally, someone who has cracked the MFF Lean Lemon Turkey code! A year ago, my husband and I relocated to London from Dallas and I have been craving MFF's Lean Lemon Turkey for, um, well, a year. I am extremely excited to try your recipe.

My only hang-up is that we have Tony Chachere's "Original" Creole Seasoning. Do you have any idea if "original" will work? If not, I head back to the states in a couple weeks and can pick up a canister of "more spice." I guess I could "give it a go" (as the Brits would say) with the original seasoning and keep my fingers crossed.

    1. Camie,
You can most certainly use original Tony Chachere's....I have used it in a pinch and tastes very close...enjoy!

    2. After two weeks of searching for a dried chili in the UK, I gave up and subbed extra crushed red pepper. I also subbed "original" seasoning and the dish turned out perfectly. I can't thank you enough!

I challenge you to crack the MyFitFoods chili recipe:)

      Thanks again!

  9. Thank you so much! I've tried to make this on my own before, but never really came close. The key thing was the lemon zest!

  11. Also, key to their ground turkey is they put it through a food processor after it's been cooked. That is why it is so fine. I love it! I couldn't get the seasonings right either so I will def try this.

  12. I'm going to make this today to take for lunches this week. I think I'll go with quinoa and/or brown rice instead of the white rice MFF puts with it.

  15. I used to work for MFF in San Antonio but now I live out of state. We never made the meals by measuring everything out, we had pre-made season packets so I never knew the exact recipe. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and was craving lean lemon turkey like a mad woman. I found your site with this recipe and decided to give it a try... THANK YOU!!!!! It was spot on from what my tastebuds remember, and exactly what this mama needed. Again thank you so much for posting it.
